Paint & Weathering

Following Doug’s video I proceeded to paint and weather the model. Honestly, Doug’s method is pretty much painting and weathering from the start. I had to modify his methods a bit as he used Hydrocal and I printed mine in PLA which is a lot tougher to scribe cracks in. He used a light and dark gray acrylic .. I used a ‘mineral’ chalk acrylic that has more brown in it and a dark gray. I did use enamel rust and paint thinner for rust streaks .. pretty much everything else I followed his lead.

Here the model is just sitting in place for the photo. I had been concerned that the weathering was too dark – I really need to put in the same lights where I model as I have on the layout.
